Part 3: Birthday Away

Tokyo!

...was underwhelming.

DMZ Tour

Preface

Do bear in mind that I was only in Tokyo, and for two days. It wasn't a proper period of time to create real opinions, OR a view of the country. With that being said, I think that Tokyo is pretty soulless, the people were rude on the most part, and it was very very expensive!

Sightseeing

Now that I've whinged, I can tell you about the fun stuff that happened. We arrived to our capsule hotel in Shibuya which had 20 blokes in seperate Iron lung sized rooms. It was comfier than I expected.
We headed straight out to see the sights like the largest Wooden Torii at Meiji Jingu Shrine [See Left], Akihabara - Electric Town, Shinjuku for some Arcade machines where I won a big dog! Lastly, we took a busy train to see Shibuya crossing, and visit a public house and some cool bars.

Wishes

As our trip came to an end, I, in all my wisdom, took us on a £100 taxi ride to the wrong airport... This may well affect my mindset towards the trip, but I am writing this now that my annoyance at myself has been spent. A bit like the couple hundred quid lost on taxis, hotels and flights. The trip was fun, and I would like to return to Japan, just not Tokyo. I plan to explore the south of Japan next summer, and do a bit of cycling!
